What Droll Yankees Delivers

Droll Yankees has been manufacturing bird feeders in the USA since 1969, combining durable materials with functional design to create products that withstand weather and wildlife while making backyard bird feeding more practical for homeowners.

Built to Last Outdoors

Droll Yankees feeders are made from UV-stabilized polycarbonate and rust-proof materials that hold up through years of sun, rain, snow, and squirrel attacks without cracking or fading.

Squirrel Resistance That Works

Weight-activated perches and chew-proof construction actually stop squirrels from draining your feeder—not through gimmicks, but through mechanical design that’s been tested in backyards for decades.

Easy to Fill and Clean

Wide-mouth openings and removable bases mean you can refill seed in seconds and clean thoroughly without tools, which matters when you’re doing it weekly in all kinds of weather.

Built by Birders Who Got Tired of Cheap Feeders

Droll Yankees started in 1969 when Peter Kilham, a field biologist studying birds in New England, got fed up with flimsy feeders that squirrels destroyed and weather ruined within a season. He wanted something that would actually last through a New England winter—and twenty New England winters after that. So he started making them himself: clear tubes, solid hardware, designs that didn’t just look nice in a catalog but actually worked when chickadees showed up at dawn and squirrels showed up by lunch.

We’re still in New England, still making most of our feeders here, and still slightly obsessive about things like UV-resistant polycarbonate and seed port placement. The goal isn’t to sell you the cheapest feeder or the fanciest one. It’s to sell you one that you buy once, hang once, and then just… use. For years. Maybe decades. The kind of feeder where you’re replacing seed, not parts.

If you’re the type who checks the feeder before checking your phone in the morning, or who knows the difference between a nuthatch and a titmouse, or who just wants to stop buying a new feeder every spring—we made these for you. No cute branding about “bringing nature to your backyard.” You’re already doing that. We just make the thing that holds the sunflower seeds and doesn’t fall apart.

Find Your Feeder Match

Every yard tells a story. Every bird has a favorite spot. Whether you’re just starting out or already know your chickadees from your nuthatches, there’s a feeder designed for exactly how you watch.

What is the return policy?

Items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, provided they remain unused and in original packaging. Customers should contact support to initiate a return and receive a prepaid shipping label.

Are replacement parts available if something breaks?

Yes, many components are available for individual purchase. This includes poles, perches, caps, and other hardware. The support team can help identify the correct part based on the specific model.

Real Backyard Stories

Thousands of birders trust Droll Yankees to bring nature closer—here’s what they’re seeing in their own backyards.

I’ve had my Droll Yankees feeder up for three years now—through ice storms, summer heat, everything. The squirrels finally gave up trying to crack it open, and the cardinals are basically my alarm clock now.

Bought this after watching a cheap feeder fall apart in two months. The weight of the materials alone told me this was different. Fills my yard with goldfinches every morning, and the seed stays dry even during heavy rain.

Marcus T.

I was skeptical about spending this much on a bird feeder, but watching a family of chickadees raise their young while visiting daily made it worth every penny. It’s become part of our backyard
routine.
